New furnaces, lower consumption

In 2021, we completed a major furnace upgrade to improve the energy efficiency of our operations. The project included the implementation of an advanced control system that optimizes furnace performance throughout all operating phases, particularly by regulating electrical power usage. Thanks to this system, we can manage load variations with greater precision and adapt to different production scenarios more efficiently.

Energy and infrastructures

Across all our facilities, we implement concrete solutions to reduce environmental impact, improve energy efficiency, and make the most of available resources.
The Paitone plant is powered by photovoltaic systems, with an installed capacity of up to 860 kWh. The self-generated energy has enabled us to completely replace the previous fossil fuel-based systems with high-efficiency electric solutions for both climate control and workshop heating, which are now managed through a hot/cold convection system.

Recovery and recycling

All our production sites are equipped with briquetting systems that compact aluminum chips, reducing their volume and making the recycling process more efficient.
Thanks to a centralized cutting oil regeneration system that separates water from oil, we significantly reduce the consumption of new oil: the water is properly disposed of, while the oil is reintroduced into the production cycle and topped up with new oil only as needed.

Our certified commitment

In 2022, we conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study to evaluate the environmental impact of our cast iron components, following the official Product Category Rules.
The results ranked our product in Class A, the highest possible level of environmental performance.
This means that—across the three key categories of climate change, particulate emissions, and resource consumption (minerals and metals)—our cast iron castings show significantly lower environmental impact compared to the industry average.

The "Made Green in Italy" certification

We obtained the Made Green in Italy certification, the environmental label promoted by MASE, which recognizes the reduction of environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle of our products.
The results inspired us to strengthen our commitment to sustainable, responsible manufacturing.
In 2023, we extended the LCA study to include aluminum production and machining processes, continuing our journey toward a greener future.

TOWARD A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Advanced technologies and renewable energy

In 2023, we launched initiatives to reduce energy consumption by replacing equipment with more efficient solutions, including a next-generation compressor and low-impact electric pumps.
We also upgraded our pneumatic sand transport systems, adopting low-pressure solutions and high-performance electromechanical models. These efforts are already reducing our energy consumption while improving overall process efficiency.

Circular economy and waste management

We are actively committed to responsible waste management, working on new recovery methods that transform discarded materials into valuable resources—reducing the environmental impact of our processes.
To achieve this, we’re partnering with specialized operators and exploring innovative platforms that foster cross-sector synergies, allowing us to repurpose waste through sustainable supply chains.
Every step we take moves us closer to a more circular and conscious production model, aimed at improving our environmental performance and contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
