Our history

FONDERIE MORA GAVARDO
Since 1945, we’ve been casting experience, passion, and innovation with our eyes set on the future
1945
Our origins
Our story began in November 1945, sparked by the vision of brothers Alessandro and Enrico Mora, who transformed their family farm into their first workshop.
Using a graphite crucible, an iron ring, and a hand-operated bellows, the two brothers started casting aluminum to produce pots for cooking polenta.

1946
Early years of
industrial growth
Just a few months after starting their new business, the director of the Lanificio di Gavardo—then employing around 800 people—reached out to the Mora brothers, requesting new bushings to replace those in the textile looms.

1948
The introduction of cast iron
As customer demand grew and production volumes increased, the Mora brothers moved their operations to Via Giovanni Quarena 60 in Gavardo, renting—and later purchasing—an old stable.
They began hiring their first workers and installed a coal-fired furnace for cast iron melting, expanding their production capabilities.
This marked the beginning of their transformation into a more structured and versatile foundry.

1952-56
Construction of new facilities
In 1952, to support their growing expansion, the two brothers purchased a plot of land across from the original stable and built two production halls, each measuring 400 square meters.

1960-70
Specializing in
cast iron
As production increased and more space was needed, the Mora brothers began building a modern foundry on the outskirts of Gavardo in 1960.
The first four buildings were constructed—each 64 meters long and 12 meters high—marking the beginning of what is now our current headquarters.
During the 1970s, aluminum casting was gradually phased out, and the company chose to focus exclusively on gray cast iron.
This strategic specialization strengthened our position as an industry leader and prepared us to face new manufacturing challenges.

2016
The merger with Camcasting
In 2016, Fonderie Mora Gavardo merged with Camcasting (now Aluminium Foundry), a company acquired by the Camozzi Group in 1995 and specialized in aluminum processing.
This merger gave rise to a new integrated entity, capable of delivering a complete service—from design and casting to the machining of both cast iron and aluminum components.
